2/3rds of Maitland

Yep, only 2/3rds, due to not seeing a damn thing from Saturday’s races. Yes, I went from confusion to rage, to disappointment, and more rage “Where’s the fu>>>n live stream”

Here are my thoughts on what I could see.

MX1 -Right now, Dean Ferris and his Brisbane Motorcycles YZ450 are the class of the field. His 1-1-1 scorecard matched his number while taking the red plate back in commanding fashion, this was a clinic. The CDR Yamaha duo of Luke Clout 2 nd and Aaron Tanti 3rd throwing everything they had at the 111, Ferris just simply faster. What a day for Yamaha, clean sweeping the MX1 podium, Bike of the year indeed!

As we know, the pointy end of Aussie Moto has two prominent colours, and as good as the Blu Cru’s weekend was, the Red Riders were bad. Such a stark contrast to Honda’s day out at Wodonga. Honda Racing Australia’s Jed Beaton seemed a little off his game, going 8-4-4, After entering the round as points leader, 17 clear of Ferris. he now trails Ferris by 9 points. Jed’s teammate Kyle Webster missed Moto 3 after copping a rock to the arm in Moto 2.

Our Trent, was visibly distressed when Kyle didn’t show up to the gate.

MX2 – A stoked Rhys Budd with the overall, I was stoked too to see my favorite MX2 rider on the top step. A great day for Serco Yamaha all up with Budd’s teammate Jesse Dobson also winning Moto 2. Jonni Row’s leadership is surely a factor.

Points leader, Honda Racing Australia’s Wilson Todd 2 nd overall with 2-3 scores and extending his points lead to 27 points over teammate Brody Connolly who struggled through the weekend after being ill. Wilbur looks to be well and truly in charge of this series.

Moto 1 winner KTM Australia’s Nathan Crawford was, as always fast as shit. A mistake in Moto 2 cost him and left him with 1-5 scores for 3rd overall.

MX3 – This lot are putting on the best racing in the series right now, its just awesome every race. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many lead changes, often within the same lap, even the same corner! So good.

3 rounds and 3 different overall winners, 7 races and 7 different winners. This time it was Empire Kawasaki’s Campbell Williams who clinched the overall through the wind and rain with a Moto 3 victory, Yamaha Junior Racing’s Jake Cannon 2nd overall, and Gas Gas Junior Development rider Byron Dennis 3rd overall. Dennis holding on to his points lead, 4 points clear of Moto 2 winner Raceline Husqvarna’s Jack Mather. Great to hear that KTM Australia’s Jet Alsop gets his first MX3 win in Moto 1.

These youngsters are a look into the future of the sport in Australia, and the future looks pretty bloody bright hey!

I’d love to tell you all about the 85cc action, but all I can tell you is Lachlan Allen won all 3 motos to take the top step from Jack Nunn and Seth Thomas. Well done dudes.

Bring on Gillman.
