As per the email pictured, AMA-affiliated clubs and ride parks have had their insurance suspended for unregistered motorcycles, which is, of course, most of them. This could effectively end seasons early for clubs and cost ride parks a lot of income.
Essentially the AMA’s primary role is insurance, to me, this is the classic “You had one job” but on a grand scale. Imagine being a few points down, training your ass off for the last round, then hearing it’s canceled. Imagine owning a ride park and losing 8 weeks of spring. One of Victoria’s biggest ride parks has already posted that they are unfortunately done for the year.
I’m all for what the AMA has done for the sport, I’m a member and they have made things more affordable for many riders but this is really disappointing.
